sugar rush

How I wish the world was made of toffee!

Sticky sweet ground to root my feet,

The sky puffed with candy floss,

Raining buttermilk on mounds of chocolate.

With outstretched tongue catching dollops,

Mints, caramels and marshmallows.

My hair, a yellow cheesecake dotted with cherry hairpins.

Blueberries popping out of ears,

Rolled into pastry, folded curtains.

A rink of icing for my Kate to skate,

Pots of honey for streetlamps,

Jam for Money!

Every man renamed to Flapjack,

Driving watermelon carriages on rocky roads,

Apart from two allowed their christened names,

A Ben and Jerry.
